KES teddy restoration at Noreen's crafts

After a month's intensive care, the KES bear gets a snuggle from "Dr" Noreen Fiete, Teddy surgeon
A very sick and very tired old bear

Towards the end of February 2012, a very sad, very tired old bear arrives at Noreen’s Crafts. He’s sad because he’s had to leave his home and his friends.
His neck and his arms are broken, his fur is dirty, his pelt is torn and worn and he is full of smelly sawdust and nasty bear eating bugs.
The mange of years has set in. Surgery is booked and intensive care is expected.
While his dissected parts lie spread over the operating table, the thought of being back where he belongs holds his spirit together.

His aching joints are all replaced. Hip replacement, neck and shoulder replacement, all at the hands of Noreen Fietze, master teddy surgeon.

Cleaned up, poor old bear’s frail, age-worn fur proves to require a fair amount of donation for fur-grafts. The intention to keep him as original as possible is still the major focus in every step of surgery.
After four weeks in intensive care, the K.E.S. bear is slowly reconciled with his spirit.

Feeling almost bear-like again, our bear sits proud and tall.

Sporting the original rosette on the left and the newly made one on the right shoulder, Bear poses proudly.
Noreen and Bear enjoy a snuggle after surgery completed towards the end of March 2012 At Noreen’s Crafts Doll and Teddy Hospital in Roodepoort. Their friendship, love and respect for each other has grown with each stitch!
Over 100 years old, this guy is quite worn out
